ANNIKA HANSEN
Now that I've shared all of the most important details about myself *wink wink*, I want to talk about what I am here to do for you. I know choosing a photographer is one of the most important decisions you can make, no matter the occasion, purely because our moments are precious and fleeting... as Karl Lagerfeld said: "What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce." I'm not here to simply reproduce it, I want you to be able to feel it. I want to tell YOUR story; all of the big, small, vulnerable, sweet, memories. The most magical photos are the ones where you are free to be who you genuinely are.
Weddings aren’t about perfect poses or rigid timelines—they're about people, moments, and the emotion that threads it all together. It's the way your partner looks at you when you’re not looking. It’s your grandmother holding back tears during the vows. It’s the quiet, joyful chaos of your closest friends getting ready, and the unexpected stillness that hits just before you walk down the aisle.
This is what I aim to capture.
My approach to photography is simple: I want you to live your day fully—not perform for a camera. The best photos come not from orchestrating moments, but from allowing them to unfold. I don’t direct or interrupt. I observe. I document. I look for the real, honest, beautiful story of your day—and I capture it in a way that helps you relive it for years to come.
To me, a wedding isn’t a formal event. It’s a living, breathing memory in the making. My job is to preserve it. I don't stage what isn’t there or smooth over the beautifully raw edges of real life. Because those tiny unplanned moments? They’re the ones that stay with us.
That doesn’t mean I don’t bring a creative eye. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep love for playing with editorial techniques, flash, and film mediums that give my work a distinct feel. But at the core of everything is truth. Artistic expression only enhances what’s already there—it never replaces it.
If there’s one thing I hope to give you, it’s the ability to feel your wedding day all over again—not just see it. Not a version curated for likes or trends—but your day, exactly as it was. Unfiltered, unforgettable, and deeply yours.
Experience
If you had told me 5 years ago that I was going to make the decision to step away from medical school and become a full time photographer, I would not have believed you. As it turns out, my soulful desire for art and creativity ultimately brought me to make the leap and start my own creative company. I have been dedicated to this craft for the past couple of years and have not looked back. It fills my heart with joy to document your memories in this way. God works in mysterious ways, but I am ever so thankful for His hand and provision in my life!
Timeless Style
My style is rooted in timelessness—in images that will feel just as meaningful twenty years from now as they do today. I’m drawn to honest emotion and elements that never go out of style. Whether I’m shooting on digital or film, using flash or embracing natural shadows, every choice I make is intentional and designed to preserve the essence of your day in a way that’s both artful and enduring. My goal isn’t to create images that look like everyone else’s—it’s to create photographs that look like you, and that hold their value not just visually, but emotionally, for a lifetime.
